HI, I'M DEMI!

I’m a 27 year old self-taught artist based in Melbourne, Australia. I have a strong love for nature and all things colourful and I enjoy eating incredible food, exploring new places and soaking in all the beauty this world has to offer. When I’m not creating art, I’m either travelling to foreign places or chasing waterfalls around Victoria and having picnics with friends. I come from a Greek background, and am an only child!

Both of my parents are business owners, so I’ve always felt extremely inspired to venture off on my own and make a name for myself. I used to be one of those pre-teens with millions of business ideas, trying out new and exciting things and getting my family friends on-board. But no matter what I did with myself, I would always eventually turn back to art.

DEMITRA.COM.AU launched in October 2015, after I ended my fashion studies and had absolutely no idea what to do with myself. I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in years, got myself a big canvas and decided to paint my very first portrait.

I’m highly interested in human psychology and the way we deal with traumatic events. A lot of my own work is based on human emotion and the fragile nature of this life and everything in it. There’s a light and dark side to this world, so I try my best to depict that in my own work by bringing a bright, positive twist to predominantly dark pieces. I love experimenting with colour and shadow, and am constantly looking at ways to improve my work and grow as an artist.
